Our Annual Dinner

This past week, we had the joy of hosting the return of our beloved Annual Holiday Dinner, and this year’s theme—Penguin Gala—brought an extra touch of magic to the evening. After being on hold since before the pandemic, it was truly heartwarming to gather our youth, families, and community together again for this special event.

The theme was simple yet festive, with everything decked out in black and white, accented with adorable penguins. The evening was a true celebration of community, generosity, and the joy of the holiday season.

The event was catered by Elena’s Kitchen, who provided a beautiful spread of holiday-inspired dishes served buffet-style. The food was delicious, and there was something for everyone to enjoy. A special thank you to Cake4Kids for creating delicious treats for everyone to enjoy!

The kids had a blast playing games, decorating cookies, and interacting with the team from Mad Science, who led fun and frosty experiments.

The excitement didn’t stop there! We had a penguin bowling game that was a huge hit, and in the background, the beloved movie Happy Feet added to the fun atmosphere.

Of course, no holiday event is complete without a special guest, and we were thrilled to have Santa join us with a collection of stuffed reindeer and penguins. The kids loved meeting him, and his festive spirit filled the room with even more joy. For dessert, we had a pancake cart where families could get creative and decorate their own mini pancakes—a fun and sweet way to end the evening!

The festivities also included a huge raffle, with numerous prizes given out to both children and families. It was a wonderful moment of excitement and generosity, with everyone taking home something special. The night was filled with laughter, games, and an overwhelming sense of community and togetherness.

A special highlight of the evening was the attendance of the Vice President of the SMUD Board of Directors, and his family. We are incredibly grateful to SMUD for their generous sponsorship of the event. It was wonderful to have them join us and experience the magic of the evening firsthand, showing their unwavering support for youth and families in our community.

There is still time to make an impact this holiday season, and we encourage you to participate in our end-of-year drive. Together, we can create even more magic and bring joy to those who need it most. As the holiday season continues, we invite you to be a part of something truly special through our Li’l Angels program. FosterHope Sacramento is seeking “Li’l Angels” to help make a child’s Christmas wish come true. For just $100, you can fulfill a wish for a system-impacted youth, such as a new bike or a set of AirPods. In return, donors will receive a Li’l Angel Christmas ornament and a personal story about how your donation made a difference in a child’s life.

Thank you for a beautiful holiday season and for making our Penguin Gala an unforgettable celebration of love, support, and holiday cheer. We couldn’t have made this event a reality without the incredible support of our community and donors. Your contributions helped bring this magical evening to life, and we are so grateful for your kindness and generosity.
